The only challenging part of our work is when we dispute with the bureaus for any inaccurate information reflected on your credit report. With that aside, the rest of the process is fast and easy. Here’s how it works:
- Submit an application requesting our service through our website.
- Once we receive your application, we will immediately create your new client dashboard on our website. We will also start importing your latest credit reports and scores so we can promptly provide you with a credit analysis. In this process, we will go through every detail of your report so we can know what your credit situation is and how it is affecting you. From there, we will identify what steps we should take to help improve your credit profile with all three major credit reporting agencies.
- Upon completion of your credit’s auditing process and when you have obtained you photo IDs for proof of identification, we will then submit the disputes directly to the bureaus. The investigation of your credit report will then follow.
- The Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) permits the bureaus to take up to 30–45 days to complete the investigations. In many cases, this process lasts for 30 days or less.
- Once the investigations have been completed, the bureaus will notify you via mail. They may also email you the results. This time, we will revisit your profile to see what changes have occurred over the previous month. Our review process includes looking for items/accounts that were either deleted, repaired, or removed. If we find items that were “verified,” we will then follow back up with the bureaus as well as the creditor to see validation of the accounts, until we reach the ultimate goal of correcting every negative account listed on your credit reports.
- This process will continue month after month until you are happy with the results.
Your job is very simple! All you have to do is submit an application, and our team will take care of restoring your credit.
When we submit disputes and challenges on your behalf, the bureaus and creditors will always respond directly back to you! They will never send us any of your reports and results of your investigations for your privacy.
Once you receive your reports and/or correspondences back, you simply have to inform us via email or fax what the mail/email was about. When we receive your notification, your case manager will then review your documents, inform/update you of any changes or notations, and take all of the necessary actions to proceed with a follow-up dispute.

Every case we handle is different from one another. No two cases are alike because no two individuals have the same circumstances. Therefore, the results for everyone may vary. Some clients receive 100% deletions in 30–45 days, while some may see 80–90% deletion statistics in 6–8 months. It depends on what type of accounts are on your credit. How old are they? How much do you owe? All of these things come into play when challenging items on your credit.
At OPTIMAL CREDIT, the majority of our clients see an overall 40–60% deletion rate in just 30 days or less, and our average client is with us for 4–6 months. We can dispute any item! No item is off limits, and there has been no item that we were not able to delete, repair, or remove, as long as the account in question is misleading, unverifiable, or inaccurate.
Federal law requires that all disputes be submitted in good faith. With that being said, we dispute accounts based on the details you provided to your account manager. This way, we can compile the best legal dispute letter needed to challenge the data being reported.

Your first payment is called a “First Work Fee,” or “Document and Processing/Audit Fee”, and is made after we have completed the identified services relating to this payment as detailed in the service agreement, usually billed within 7 days. OPTIMAL CREDIT focuses on removing inaccurate, misleading, and unverifiable information from your credit profile. While we are engaged in the dispute process with the credit bureaus, your score may change periodically, especially since 35% of your score is based on your entire credit history. As we are working to correct negative items within your credit history, you can also see your scores improving.
When disputing ‘negative’ information on your credit report, the credit bureaus will remove the item(s) in question until it is verified, modified, or deleted. Since we are disputing primarily ‘negative’ items on your report, your score may increase during the process because the negative item is temporarily removed until the investigation is over. This temporary score is not an indicator of your final credit score. (Disputing personal information such as an incorrect address or date of birth will not affect your credit score.) Upon completion of the dispute process, your credit report will then show the new score. Keep in mind that each credit bureau has different criteria for determining your score, which is why your score varies from bureau to bureau.
Scores and point increases vary across cases. At OPTIMAL CREDIT, we put a huge emphasis on ‘Credit Report’ versus ‘Credit Score’, simply due to the fact that clients who lack the necessary credit accounts and types will not see as much of a credit score increase as someone who already possesses multiple lines of positive credit. We do see that 75–90% of our clients receive a score increase within their very first month, ranging anywhere from 25–200 points. Again, these results will vary due to how the negative accounts that were on the credit file were affecting the credit score. For clients who do not have much or any positive credit at all, the goal is to remove the negative accounts first, then focus on rebuilding and re-establishing a new clean credit, which will result in higher scores reporting month after month.
As a consumer, it is always in your best interest to pay off any balances that you owe. When disputing items and accounts on your credit report, pursuing deletions when accounts have been paid off (zero balance) will be easier. Paying your accounts off will be beneficial for you because it facilitates the dispute process and further collection activities are ceased. As a collection tactic, creditors prefer to invest their time and efforts in verifying negative information that still has a balance due. As you are paying off your creditors, ask them to send you a confirmation letter that the account has a zero balance.
Important Note: If a creditor or collector agrees to settle an account for less than the full amount, have them send you a written statement to protect yourself from further collection activity and unethical collectors harassing you for the original balance later.
When reviewing your credit to decide if you should keep an account open or closed, you need to consider its effect on your credit score. We recommend having only about 3–5 open credit cards. When you decide to close some of them, you might want to close the accounts that were most recently opened. Older accounts have more payment history and closing them usually results in lowering your credit score. However, what you choose to do with these accounts once they have been paid off is up to you.
Another item to keep in mind when you are paying off credit accounts is that credit card balances over 50 percent of the credit limit negatively affects your credit score. For this reason, you should try to keep your balances below half of your credit limit as much as possible. In addition, having accounts that are paid off will not hurt your credit.
A charge-off is a credit account that you did not pay and then the creditor wrote the account off as a loss. On the other hand, a settlement is an account that went past due, maybe even charged off, and then you negotiate a payoff amount that is less than the full balance due. Once you pay that negotiated amount in full, the account is reported as a settlement. Credit bureaus sometimes ‘generalize’ and insist that ‘settlements’ and ‘charge-off’ are the same when in reality, they are totally different from each other. This is why we stand our ground and fight for the investigation of these items and changing of incorrect information. If they cannot verify the information within 30 days, then they need to delete the item. This is one of your rights under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and we remain steadfast in making sure that your rights are protected.
Credit scores are used by creditors to measure the risk factor of a consumer who is applying for a loan or credit line. The credit score was put in place to reflect the financial responsibility of a consumer, through past and present credit use. Creditors use the score to predict how a consumer will treat their potential financial obligation. As a ‘snapshot’ of your financial history, your credit report is essentially your ‘financial fingerprint’ and contains information that can be grouped into these five categories:

- Amount Owed – 30%
- Length of Credit History – 15%

- Types of Credit in Use – 10%
The three main credit bureaus are Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion. They gather and store information about consumer’s credit histories to help establish a consumer’s creditworthiness. The credit bureaus are private for-profit companies that sell these data to businesses that are legally permitted to see your credit report.
